This weekend me and my team mates won the classic rowing race, Distanskapprodden, which also acts as Swedish Championship for inriggars. Having initially struggled with the home club team Vaxholm we took the lead after 1000m and eventually won fairly comfortably. The win was the third for Helsingborg since 2011. The winning team consisted of: Nils-Peter Aulisio, Jonathan Wright, Andreas Stensson, myself and coxswain Daniel Böcker.
Facts about the race
Distanskapprodden is one of the oldest sports event in Sweden and was held the first time in 1894. The course has always been from Djurgårdsbrunnsviken in Stockholm to Vaxholm, a distance of 15km. The boat type has since 1910 been inriggade 4+. These boats are built according to the classic model, and is usually quite old. Helsingborg winning boat was built, for instance in 1954.
